Course Overview
Are you fascinated by the past and how it has shaped our world? IGCSE History offers a
thorough examination of significant global events and developments, from the formation of
modern states to the conflicts of the twentieth century.
This course encourages learners to explore historical cause and effect, continuity and change,
and the significance of key individuals and movements. Students will strengthen their skills in
analysis, interpretation, and critical thinking through the study of primary and secondary sources.
How it Works
The IGCSE History course is delivered entirely online and is available for enrolment at any time.
Students progress at their own pace, supported by experienced tutors and a wealth of digital
resources.
Each module includes detailed lessons, historical case studies, reading materials, and exercises.
The final qualification is awarded based on a written examination completed at an approved
exam centre.
Subject Content
Students study core content from one of two options:
Option A: The Nineteenth Century
- The development of modern nation-states (1848–1914)
Option B: The Twentieth Century
- International relations since 1919
In addition, all students must complete at least one Depth Study.
Each area of study is structured around:
- Key Questions that define the overarching themes
- Focus Points to guide understanding of each topic
- Specified Content that outlines the material to be covered using historical examples
Sitting the Exam
Students will need to sit a written examination at a recognised exam centre. We support you
through:
- Finding and registering with a local approved centre
- Confirming documentation and entry details
- Coordinating access arrangements where needed
- Providing post-exam support with results, certificates, or re-marking requests
